INTRODUCTION: INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE FROM THE GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE

Marion is a cultural geographer, specialized in global industrial heritage interpretation. She holds a degree from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and a Master in Geopolitics from Université Paris 8. She participated in two World Heritage site nominations of former industrial regions in Europe, and in her PhD thesis analyzed the world history of electrification in Valparaíso and Santiago. Marion is member of the German Society for Industrial Heritage, the Bauhaus Institute for History and Theory of Architecture and Planning, and the Working Group on Theory and Education in Heritage Conservation.
Marion es geógrafa cultural, especializada en la interpretación global del patrimonio industrial. Se graduó en la Humboldt Universität zu Berlin y tiene un Master en geopolíticas de la Université Paris 8. Participó en dos nominaciones de regiones ex-industriales europeas al Patrimonio Mundial, y en su tesis doctoral analizó la historia mundial de la electrificación de Valparaíso y Santiago. Es miembro de la Sociedad Alemana del Patrimonio Industrial, del Instituto Bauhaus de la Historia y Teoría de Arquitectura y Planificación, y del Grupo de Trabajo sobre Teoría y Educación en Conservación del Patrimonio.

CONSTRUCTING CULTURAL HERITAGE IN THE ARCTIC AND ANTARCTIC

Dag is a researcher, PhD in History of Technology, specializing in cultural heritage, particularly industrial heritage. His research has primarily dealt with the relationship between resource extraction, science and geopolitics in the Polar Regions, and the effects of such interactions on environments and societies, from a long term historical perspective. Dag is part of the leadership of the Nordic Centre of Excellence "Resource Extraction and Sustainable Arctic Communities" and Board member of The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage.
Dag es investigador, doctor en Historia de la Tecnología, especializado en patrimonio cultural, particularmente en patrimonio industrial. Su investigación se ha ocupado principalmente de la relación entre la extracción de recursos, ciencia y geopolíticas en las regiones polares, y los efectos de tales interacciones en los entornos y las sociedades, desde una perspectiva histórica a largo plazo. Dag es codirector del Centro nórdico de excelencia "Extracción de recursos y comunidades árticas sostenibles" y miembro del directorio del Comité Internacional para la Conservación del Patrimonio Industrial (TICCIH).

Dra. Heike Oevermann, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Germany
INTEGRATING URBAN DEVELOPMENT AND INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE CONSERVATION

Heike studied architecture and World Heritage studies in Germany and Spain. Her doctorate degree was awarded by the TU Berlin on bases of her research on the transformation of the UNESCO World Heritage site Zollverein, Germany. Nowadays, she is Vice Director at the Georg Simmel Center for Metropolitan Studies at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and conducts several research projects on urban and industrial heritage in the context of sustainable development. Furthermore, she is lecturer at various universities in Germany and Europe.
Heike estudió arquitectura y estudios del Patrimonio Mundial en Alemania y España. Su título de doctorado fue otorgado por TU Berlin en base a su investigación sobre la transformación del sitio de Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO Zollverein, Alemania. Actualmente es vicedirectora del Centro Georg Simmel de Estudios Metropolitanos de la Humboldt Universität zu Berlin y lleva a cabo varios proyectos de investigación sobre el patrimonio urbano e industrial en el contexto del desarrollo sostenible. Además, es profesora en diversas universidades de Alemania y Europa.
